Rodless cylinders carry the load on a carriage that travels along the cylinder body itself, saving up to 50% of installation footprint compared with a conventional cylinder of the same stroke. That is why they are the first choice for long-stroke transfer, lifting gates and gantry auxiliaries.
The basic mechanically coupled type (CY1L) is the most economical choice. The slide table is driven directly by the piston, so it is best when the load can be supported externally and side moments are small. Bore sizes from 6 to 63 mm and strokes of several meters are available.
When the load overhangs and produces moment loads, choose a guided type. The sliding-bearing guide type (MY1H) carries medium moments with a compact profile, while the recirculating ball-bearing guide type (MY1M) delivers the highest rigidity and smoothness for precision transfer systems.
Sizing checklist: 1) calculate the vertical load and over-hanging moments against the allowable moment table; 2) add 20-30% speed margin to the required cycle time; 3) consider intermediate stops and vibration.
